Your Bike Bell: Important Safety Alert or Really Obnoxious?

Bike Bell

The greenway and shared paths are relatively new for me.  My first ride on the greenway came with a lesson on passing etiquette that left me confused. Would utilizing my bell be rude?     Ring the bell or Holler? It was  a beautiful day.  My wife and I had joined a friend for our maiden ride on one of the paved greenways.  I was very excited about getting out and riding on the trails.  Utilizing the paved #biking paths is one of the reasons I decided on getting a trike.  For some reason I met this new experience with some trepidation.  Not over- the- top anxiety, but I was noticeably anxious.  I was slightly aware that there were some rules of etiquette to follow and I am generally uncouth.  I am not some keen cyclist.  I am just some non-athletic fat guy riding his #recumbent trike on the greenway for the first time!  I was going to be…

Recumbent Delta Trike

I would like to share the following list of #safety tips for riding your #recumbent trike. The following is a list of tips that is curated from our friend Dennis at Sun Bicycles Nashville. Recumbent Trike

Riding a recumbent trike will make you irresistibly cool!

being cool

Being cool is possessing knowledge of one’s self, being comfortable with that knowledge, and confident about who you are.  Looking cool hinges on self awareness and self confidence. It’s personal People buy and #ride adult #trikes for a myriad of reasons.  An individual’s decision to ride a #recumbent trike should be for their own reasons. Your knowledge of self makes you best aware of your physical abilities and riding needs.  After all, it’s your butt in the seat and your physical exertion required to propel the #trike.   I have read a lot of generalizations when it comes to recumbent trikes.  To me this can be  misleading as there are different styles of trikes. Generalizations would not be appropriate for upright bikes.  We know that there are road bikes, mountain bikes, BMX bikes, or cruiser bikes to name a few.  What may be true of one style may not be true of another. Trikes comes in styles such as #tadpole,…

Sign of the bike lane

You know you need to get exercise, but does going to the gym cause a sense of dread?  Have you found going to the gym to be inconvenient and quite boring?  What if you found a way to get your exercise and smile too?  I found them both #cycling on my #recumbent trike! Benefits of Physical Activity First off I would like to say that before starting an exercise routine you should consult your physician.  I am not a doctor and while I can comment in general terms, your doctor should be  the one to advise you in regard to your specific health needs.  Your physician will be able to address any special needs or concerns that you might have. We all know that physical activity is beneficial.  As per the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. It can help: Control your weight Reduce…

Surprisingly, it is Actually Going to Happen!!

It's Actually Going To Happen!!

He said yes!! He actually agreed to come to the bike shop with me. I had expected, and planned, to ride and exercise solo. We all need exercise I guess I should thank his elevated A1c reading, but I will take what I can get. This #trike is likely my last hope for riding a bike of any kind. My balance is shot, thanks to MS. So, two-wheeled bikes are out, especially after the spill I took in the parking lot of my apartment complex, everyone knows landing on pavement hurts! That was over 10 years ago in 2003. Since then my main form of exercise was water aerobics, which also helped with staying cool while exercising, but my job situation changed and now the water aerobics is no longer an option. Back to square one. I NEED to find a way to exercise. I NEED to keep my body as healthy as possible and my flexibility as good as…
